The Parable of the Ten Virgins

“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

“At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’

“Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’

“‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

“But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

“Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’

“But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’

“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

Jesus said once, “Many are called, but few are chosen.” He is saying something very similar to that in this parable: “Many are invited and will join in wait for the bridegroom, but few will actually remain to follow him to the feast when he comes.”

Esoterically,this parable by Jesus also refers to the Kaballah's (Jewish mystical tradition) Tree of life with 10 sephiroth,which correspond to the chakra system of Yoga .In the bible,Jesus also speaks of 10 talents, 10 cities and 10 pieces of silver.While Moses wrote about the 10 commandments and the 10 plagues.

The 'Shekhinah','Sakina' or 'Kundalini' in the base of the spine (also symbolized as the Queen,Goddess,Mother,Bride of Microprosopus,the Son,the Sun or Logos....the feminine aspect of God/Creator/Father/King) have to be awaken from her deep sleep and successively opening up the sephiroth or chakras to finally merge/unite with her Husband/King/God/Creator/Father at the crown or top of the head.An initiate or spiritual aspirant who accomplished this divine task of uniting his/her two opposite divine forces within him/her will be complete and perfected being...he/she will then be the "Anointed One" or the "Enlightened One" with Christ consciousness/Buddhic consciousness and a heavenly,blissful state of being.
